These introductory Calligraphy Classes for beginners and improvers are held in the easy and relaxed setting of my studio kitchen. They begin with a pointed pen demonstration followed by step-by-step tuition as you try your hand at Copperplate Calligraphy using a dip pen and ink with easy to follow guide sheets. A serendipitous scroll on Instagram’s stories, led me to book a last-minute place that afternoon. I don’t know where the time went as I was enjoying it so much, the atmosphere, Kate’s expertise and not to mention her cake! Pure creative bliss – I will definitely be back as I want to be able to write like Kate, whose copperplate calligraphy is utterly beautiful. She is also a beautiful soul to be around. Thank you for a fab evening. I loved being in your gorgeous kitchen and the company was great fun. The instructions were clear and it was great to take home guide sheets and materials as it has enabled me to keep practicing!

I really enjoyed Kate’s teaching. She breaks the technique down into bite size pieces which helped me understand the principle and left me wanting to keep on practicing. This was a lovely introduction to calligraphy in the easy atmosphere of her beautiful kitchen. The tea and home made cake were a very delicious and welcome bonus. I would definitely recommend it.

Directions

There is plenty of unrestricted parking outside. If you are planning to get to us via public transport, the 65 bus leaves from Richmond Station or Kingston station approximately every 7 minutes and takes about 10 minutes to Ham Common in good traffic.

Booking Terms

Places are non-refundable unless it is possible to replace your booking with another, so please ensure that you are able to attend before reserving your place. In the unlikely event that I have to cancel the workshop, you can receive a full refund or transfer to an alternative date.

Whilst there are unlikely to be any ink spillages, it is advisable not to wear anything too special.
